The United Nations heard about No Poor Among Us from their contacts in the government and had to come see first hand what we are doing. They were so impressed with the work that we are doing with literacy, culinary and sewing. They have invested a lot of money into literacy here in Mozambique. However, the problem they have found is that many women who go through literacy courses don’t have a way to utilize their new skill to produce an income. No Poor Among Us has a unique approach that can take a woman from illiterate to literate and fully capable of running their own sewing or cooking business.
The UN loved our approach and is working on exploring ways that we can work together moving forward to empower more women here in Mozambique.
